A .380 FIVE-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S PATENT', serial no. 31451,
circa 1872, with blued octagonal 4 1/2in. barrel signed on the top-flat 'E.M. REILLY & CO OXFORD ST. LONDON', engraved band at muzzle, crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, border-line engraved frame marked 'W. TRANTERS PATENT' in an oval on left hand side of breech, plain cylinder with rear locking notches, chequered walnut one-piece grip with saw-back, iron pommel-cap and provision for under-cylinder ejector (missing, arbor screw present), scuffed and scratched but good traces of original finish
