circa 1855, with mirror-blued tapering 10 1/2in. deeply multi-grooved rifled octagonal barrel signed in gold inlay along the top-flat 'JOS KRUSE IN MUNSTER', dovetailed blade fore-sight, polished muzzle, twin gold lines at breech, the in the white breech-block with bordered panels of full scroll engraving on the flats, scroll engraved snail with plain flash-guard, fully border and scroll engraved triple-stepped top-tang numbered for '1' of a pair, the engraving inhabited by the head of a mythical beast and surrounding a square socket aperture for adjusting the 'peacock' blue notch rear-sight, fully border and scroll engraved back-action lock, the central position occupied by the head of a mythical beast, fully scroll engraved hammer with carved breast and lozenge-shaped head, 'peacock' blued hammer-screw, burr-walnut half-stock, the pistol-grip carved with flutes, scroll carving around the top-tang, beneath the tail of the lock, alongside the fore-end barrel-channel and around the fore-end tip terminating in a carved shell, key-hole aperture in the back of the grip for the detachable butt-stock, white metal scroll engraved furniture with traces of yellow gilding, the butt-cap with central cap-box, spurred trigger-guard bow engraved with a martial trophy, set-trigger, silver oval escutcheon engraved with the heraldic shield and crown of a German Baron inlet to left-hand side of stock behind the scroll engraved 'bouquet' sideplate, silver take-down wedge escutcheons and no provision for ramrod, COMPLETE WITH its walnut detachable shoulder-stock, the underside around the attachment fixing and the left-hand side near butt carved with en-suite scrolls, raised tear-drop cheek-piece with border carving and scroll engraved silver heel-plate
