A FINE PRESENTATION PATTERN 1889 PRUSSIAN INFANTRY OFFICERS RAPIER WITH GILDED DAMASCUS BLADE,
circa 1900, with straight double-fullered 32in. damascus blade, decorated on both sides of the blade for half its length with deeply etched arabesque panels with raised polished and gilded portions on a blue ground (restored), the left hand side with flags and martial trophies, the right with a central flowing banner with 'CONDER DERKEN S.IL. VON MUNRGOW' and further martial trophies, the back of blade with carved running vine-leaves leading to a box containing 'A. KLUCKE & CO KGL HOFLIEFERANT, BERLIN', brass half-basket knuckle-guard with carved Prussian eagle with the monogram of Wilhelm II to its breast, the rest of the guard carved with floral motifs and scrolls (traces of gilding), wire-bound sharkskin grip and flat-topped crested pommel, COMPLETE WITH its pre-1907 pattern iron scabbard with twin loose suspension rings (darkly stained)
