A SCARCE PAIR OF 54-BORE FIVE-SHOT PERCUSSION REVOLVERS, MODEL 'TRANTERS PATENT', serial no's. 14929T & 14930T,
fourth models, circa 1863, with re-blued octagonal 6in. barrels, the top-flat and strap signed 'JOHN HAYTON, GRAHAM'S TOWN', engraved band to the radiused muzzles, border line and scroll engraving to the barrel throats, further border line and scroll engraving to the frames, border line engraved cylinders with rope-edge border to the leading edge, spurred hammers, double-action triggers, chequered walnut one-piece butts with saw-back grips, engraved iron pommel-caps and trigger-guard bows and border and scroll engraved articulated rammers marked 'TRANTERS PATENT' attached to the left-hand side of barrel TOGETHER WITH a later wood case lined in green baize to accommodate both revolvers
