built on Francotte's patent circa 1907, with 27 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the top of barrel signed 'BARREL MADE BY BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. LD. BIRMINGHAM 1907', nocksform numbered '4744' plain receiver stamped with 'FRANCOTTE'S PATENT' in a circle and 'VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT' over a Victorian crown above the number '4744' on the left hand side, 'Martini-style' underlever action, walnut straight hand butt-stock, iron heel-plate, walnut military-style three-quarter fore-end with two iron barrel-bands and an iron nose-cap, missing clearing rod, slight traces of original finish
