A GOOD PAIR OF 18-BORE FLINTLOCK SASH-PISTOLS, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
Turkish circa 1780, possibly earlier with round iron 11 3/4in. barrels, integral raised and carved top-ribs, the octagonal breech-ends carved with furled flags, arabesques and feathered scrolls, stamped rectangular makers mark to top of breech, applied silver fore-sights, engraved dove-tail shaped top-tangs, curved and radiused lockplates with florally carved tails, light scroll engraving to the remainder and hammers (one top-jaw and screw missing), ribbed un-bridled frizzens, walnut full-stocks carved with floral scrolls, wire border inlay around the locks, pierced silver escutcheons inset with two red cabachon stones and pale blue coral with further wire scroll inlays beneath, brass embossed and engraved long-eared butt-caps, carved trigger-guard tangs and bow, false ramrods with silver mounts and later copper wire binding at the muzzles (tip of one fore-end renewed and butt cracked through and repaired in antiquity)
