A SCARCE VARIANT .177 BREAK-BARREL AIR-RIFLE, MODEL 'GEM' DE-LUXE, serial no 1673,
circa 1900, with octagonal 19 3/4in. barrel, the underside marked '4.5', dove-tailed pillar fore-sight with side protectors, elevating 'target-style' rear-sight, 'T-bar' barrel locking catch with curved ears, slanted air-chamber signed 'MODEL DE LUXE, MANUFACTURED ABROAD SPECIALLY FOR R.J. ADGEY BELFAST', walnut straight-hand butt-stock with heavy cast iron crescent heel-plate, the underside of butt stamped with an 'M' within a circle trademark for Jean Marck of Belgium, raised tear-drop cheek-piece on the left hand side and under-barrel cocking link forming the trigger-guard, all iron surfaces with an old black finish
