A RARE SLAVE-MASTER'S 'COME-ALONG' STICK WITH CONCEALED INERTIA SPIKE,
first quarter of the 19th century, possibly slightly earlier, 25in. overall with smooth polished boxwood shaft terminating in a bulbous head, the tip with a circular brass boss with central trapdoor concealing an inertia-operated square-section 6 1/4in. locking spike (two longitudinal splits and some impact damage at head)
