circa 1881, with octagonal 3in. barrel, crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, the top-strap signed 'HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG CO' together with patent dates to 1879 and 'XL No3 32 CAL RIM FIRE', blind fluted cylinder, plain solid frame, hard-rubber chequered grips with the 'dog's head' trademark and chequered sheath trigger, the whole retaining virtually all its original finish TOGETHER WITH an oak storage case, re-lined and compartmented for this pistol and containing a period original empty card ammunition carton
