Product Details

A .44 PERCUSSION SIX-SHOT REVOLVER SIGNED 'COLT', MODEL 'WALKER COLT IMITATION', serial no. 311
Belgian circa 1920, being a copy of a Colt Walker deliberately made to deceive, with 9in. barrel, slab-sided breech, the top signed ' ADDRESS COLT' and 'NEW-YORK CITY', (some other words missing, the whole rubbed), left hand side of breech with feint 'COMPANY B 28', the right hand side with 'US' over '1847' (obscured by take down wedge securing screw), plain cylinder with roll-engraved scene, round locking notches, plain unsigned iron frame, iron back-strap, one piece flared walnut grip, brass square-backed trigger-guard and hinged under-barrel rammer

Other Notes: This lot is accompanied by a cutting from a 1963 edition of 'The West Briton' detailing its acquisition by a Cornish gun dealer and another later cutting from an unidentified publication detailing its proposed sale by auctioneers Weller and Dufty, which was where the current owner acquired it. Unfortunately its authenticity has subsequently been repudiated.
