for 1895, with 26in. round barrel, matted top-surface, the left-hand side of barrel signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO, NEW HAVEN CONN' , dove-tailed fore-sight (missing), buckhorn rear-sight with adjustable blade, blued receiver, the top-tang drilled for peep-sight, the tapped holes with keeper screws, stamped with 'MODEL 1894 WINCHESTER PAT. AUG. 21 1894', highly figured walnut chequered pistol-grip butt-stock, hard-rubber pistol-grip cap embossed with 'WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO', hard-rubber chequered 'shotgun' butt-plate with central Winchester trademark, figured walnut chequered fore-end, blued nose-cap, three-quarter length under-barrel magazine with take-down lever, the whole being an early, probably factory refinish
