for 1870, with 22 3/4in. octagonal barrel (possibly shortened), the top-flat signed 'WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS, NEW HAVEN CT' over 'KINGS-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860', dove-tailed blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, bronze open-topped receiver, no provision for peep-sight or model designation stamp, walnut straight hand butt-stock, carbine style brass butt-plate with central sliding trapdoor, small sized finger-loop to underlever (locking latch missing), walnut fore-end, brass nose-cap, full length under-barrel magazine and provision for swivels (front missing)
