for 1871, with 20in. round barrel, the top signed 'WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS, NEW HAVEN CT' over 'KINGS-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860' (faint and rubbed), blade fore-sight on the front barrel-band, folding ladder rear-sight, bronze open-topped receiver, no provision for peep-sight or model designation stamp, walnut straight hand butt-stock, carbine style brass butt-plate with central sliding trapdoor, the interior cavity containing the original take-down cleaning rod, small sized finger-loop to underlever, walnut fore-end with barrel band, full length under-barrel magazine and saddle-ring to left hand side of receiver
