circa 1840-45, with micro-rifled 25 3/4in. octagonal barrel, the top-flat with the scarce signature 'H.J. HOLLAND' and '9 KING STREET HOLBORN LONDON', dove-tailed fore-sight with small crescent blade, three-leaf folding rear-sight, plain cylinder, the chambers with chamfered gas-seal and numbered on the face '1' to '6', open frame with scroll engraved panels to the radiused action body, offset central single-action engraved hammer with long spur, figured chequered walnut straight-hand butt-stock, iron 'shotgun' heel-plate with engraved screws, scroll engraving to the trigger-guard bow, small bag-shaped horn grip beneath frame, take-down wedge secured with a side-screw and hinged under-barrel rammer with securing clip, the whole with strong traces of original finish
