A RARE CASED .455 SIX-SHOT SERVICE REVOLVER, MODEL 'MKII', serial no. 61155, COMPLETE WITH TRAINING ADAPTOR,
commercial example circa 1895, with blued 4in. sighted barrel, the top-strap signed 'HOOTON & JONES 60 DALE ST LIVERPOOL', blued fluted cylinder, blued break-open frame marked 'WEBLEY PATENTS', broad hammer-spur, chequered hard-rubber birdshead grips with lanyard ring to butt, the back-strap engraved 'CAPT. T.T. VERNON', the whole remaining in fine order with little signs of use, COMPLETE WITH its factory fitted detachable .297-230 Morris-tube adaptor training unit comprising of a stepped and fluted cylinder with a barrel insert and TOGETHER WITH its retailers oak storage case with Hooton & Jones parchment label to inside of lid, the interior lined and compartmented in blue baize to accommodate the revolver, the conversion kit and sundry tools, the outer lid with circular brass escutcheon engraved 'CAPT. T.T. VERNON LIVERPOOL'.
Provenance: Captain Thomas Thornycroft Vernon joined the 7th Battalion, The Kings (Liverpool) Regt. on 2nd May 1896. Further details of his service record are unknown at this time.
