circa 1845, with triple-staged damascus 31 1/4in. barrel banded at the intersection, the top-flat near breech signed in script 'WESTLEY RICHARDS', colour hardened squared patent breech with twin platinum lines, fenced nipple with platinum vented plug, fully scroll engraved top-tang incorporating a shallow notch rear-sight, colour hardened bar-action border and scroll engraved lock signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS', scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammer (spur broken off), walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, clipped corner rectangular silver escutcheon behind top-tang, iron heel-plate with scroll engraved long top-spur, scroll engraved trigger-guard tang and bow, shell engraved ball finial, oval silver take-down wedge escutcheons, iron ramrod throat and original brass-mounted ramrod, strong traces of original finish and colour throughout
