A RARE .50-95 (WIN) LEVER-ACTION REPEATING RIFLE, MODEL '1886 LARGE FRAME', serial no. P9634,
circa 1888, with blued round 24in. barrel, later stamped South African registration number 'P9634', the side of breech stamped 'BULLARD REPEATING ARMS COMPANY, SPRINGFIELD MASS. US. PAT AUG 16 1881', dovetailed blade fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight, stamped '50-95 EXPRESS' to top of the slab-sided blued receiver, sliding dust-cover, colour-hardened central hammer, walnut straight-hand butt-stock with semi-crescent chequered hard-rubber heel-plate with a central depiction of a turkey surrounded by a circle of entwined branches and the legend 'BULLARD REPT'G ARMS CO' in raised relief, colour hardened under-lever with finger-loop, blued hinged loading gate to the underside of action, plain walnut fore-end (some age-related splits), iron nose cap and full-length under-barrel magazine, the whole retaining much original finish and colour
