29in. replacement nitro barrels by the makers in 1996, rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp cyl and 1/4 choke, Dickson patent round-action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 1429, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, action and furniture profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork and floral bouquets, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 15 1/8in. highly-figured replacement stock, cast on for the left shoulder, weight 6lb. 12oz., in its brass-cornered oak and leather case with gold-tooled red leather trade label, some accessories and canvas and leather outer
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed in December 1911 with 29in. barrels, the original owner's name is not recorded. They subsequently fitted new barrels in 1996.
