circa 1880, the serial number being a South African registration number, with ovoid 1 3/4in. barrel, crescent fore-sight, the top-strap signed 'T. BLAND & SONS, 430 WEST STRAND LONDON', plain frame stamped with the Bland 'bee' trademark and marked '380 GAUGE', fluted cylinder, loading gate to right hand side of frame, concealed hammer, smooth ebony birdshead grips, folding trigger with retaining catch and centrally mounted swing-out ejector-rod, the whole retaining much original plated finish
