circa 1770, with 7in. turn-off cannon barrel (frozen), carved muzzle and barrel-band, engraved band at the breech, engraved screw-on top-tang (screw replaced), radiused side-hammer boxlock action signed 'GANDON, LONDON', 'L' shaped frizzen-spring (screws replaced), engraved hammer (cracked, top-jaw screw replaced), walnut swollen bag-shaped butt with inlet silver wire scrolls (losses), white-metal grotesque mask butt-cap and rococco escutcheon to wrist, darkly stained metalwork and missing trigger-guard bow
