circa 1880, with round tapering 2 1/4in. barrel signed in two lines 'COLT'S PT FA MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA', 1874 patent stamped to underside of barrel, etched panel with 'COLT NEW 38' to left hand side of barrel, crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, fluted cylinder, solid frame, blued hammer with polished sides, smooth rosewood birdshead grips and sheath trigger, some flaking and loss to finish, COMPLETE WITH its probable original English market oak storage case, indented corner parchment trade-label with the Depot 14 Pall Mall address, compartmented and lined in green baize, complete with a cleaning rod and provision for ammunition
