A CASED .31 PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL '1849 LONDON POCKET', serial no. 5330,
for 1855, with 5in. octagonal barrel, the top-flat signed 'ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON' surrounded by brackets with arabesque terminals, bead fore-sight, plain cylinder with roll-engraved 'stagecoach hold-up' scene, open iron frame, iron grip-straps and trigger-guard, one-piece smooth walnut grip and articulated under-barrel rammer COMPLETE WITH an English market oak storage case, compartmented and lined in green velvet, parchment instruction label to inside of lid and containing an English bag-shape powder flask, an iron scissors bullet mold signed 'COLT' PATENT' and a tin of 'ELEY' percussion caps
Provenance: Popular tradition has it that this particular revolver was presented by Colt to the author Charles Dickens
