circa 1855, with heavy tapering round 36in. barrel (refinished), the breech-end signed 'LANCASTER'S PATENT' on a short sighting rib, block at muzzle for a pinned fore-sight blade (missing), provision for an elevating ladder rear-sight and a tang-mounted diopter vernier sight (also both missing), squared breech engraved with a band and scrolls, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'C.W. LANCASTER 151 NEW BOND ST, LONDON', fully chequered figured walnut pistol-grip half-stock, iron patch-box set into right hand side of butt, the hinged lid engraved with a standing lion, iron heel-plate, iron trigger-guard tang, bow and pistol-grip cap, horn schnabel fore-end tip, no provision for ramrod
