for 1862, with round 8in. barrel, the top signed 'ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA' (faint), blade fore-sight, stepped cylinder with a roll-engraved naval engagement scene, open frame, spurred hammer, iron back-strap, smooth walnut one-piece grip, brass trigger-guard stamped '44 CAL' (traces of silver plating) and iron under-barrel rammer, slight traces of finish in sheltered areas
