circa 1872, with octagonal 1 3/4in. barrel, blade fore-sight, four of the barrel-flats engraved with geometric patterns, the top-strap signed 'HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG CO, XL No6, PAT MAR 23 1871', florally engraved solid frame with geometric pattern engraved at breech, florally engraved fluted cylinder with traces of silver plate and gilt wash within the flutes, plated spurred hammer, smooth ivory birdshead grips, the backstrap engraved with floral designs and arabesques and a chequered sheath trigger, good amount of plated finish remaining throughout
