A .36 PERCUSSION SIX-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL '1851 NAVY', serial no. 21094, COMPLETE WITH TWO SPARE CYLINDERS AND AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE CASE,
for 1855, with octagonal 7 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON', bead fore-sight, rear-sight notch to the hammer-nose, plain cylinder with roll-engraved naval engagement scene, iron open frame marked 'COLTS PATENT', iron grip-straps and trigger-guard, smooth walnut one-piece grip and hinged under-barrel rammer, retaining traces of original finish throughout COMPLETE WITH its manufacturers fitted mahogany American storage case, radiused corners, compartmented and lined in red baize with red velvet to the inside of lid and taking the revolver with two spare cylinders (matching numbers but one example with one chamber burst) and together with a number of period accessories including a bag-shaped copper flask, an iron scissors bullet mold signed 'COLTS PATENT a cap tin, an 'L' shaped nipple-key and a cleaning rod
Other Notes: This rare, possibly unique casing was undoubtedly built to customer order using the case from a Colt 1860 Army revolver because the standard 1851 Navy case does not have the space to accommodate two spare cylinders and a large flask. Conversely, if this case had originally held a Colt 1860 Army as has been suggested by some, the compartments are not big enough to accommodated the larger Army cylinders
