A PAIR OF 54-BORE PERCUSSION BOXLOCK POCKET-PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1840, with round tapering blued turn-off 1 3/4in. barrels (frozen), engraved bands to muzzles, squared engraved central-hammer action signed 'E SHADDICK' on the left and 'TAUNTON' on the right hand side, border-engraved dolphin headed hammers, sliding safety to the top-tangs, plain walnut bag-shaped butts with clipped-corner silver escutcheons to the wrists, concealed folding automatic triggers, refinished in antiquity
