for 1874, with round 7 1/2in. barrel, the top signed 'COLT'S PT F A MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA', nickel blade fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, fluted cylinder with matching number, plain frame with front mounted cylinder retaining screw and two line patent details, the right hand side stamped with a stylised Union Jack flag and the designation 'A38', iron trigger-guard and grip-straps, the heel stamped in the wood 'C.G. BALES, DURBAN', smooth walnut one-piece grip and under-barrel spring-loaded ejector rod with 'bullseye' thumb-piece, strong traces of original finish throughout
