27 1/2in. nitro 20-bore shot barrels with 6mm ventilated matt top-rib, gold-inlaid '2', top tube engraved 'PLETSERS. BELGIUM. FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL BELGIQUE', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and full choke, individual three-piece fore-end;
hold-open toplever carved in the form of the head of a mountain goat, manual safety with integral barrel selector switch, gold-washed single trigger, the action and furniture deeply carved with bold floral and scroll motifs on a matted background, the decorative sideplates carved with scenes of the rut and a flush of pheasant in woodland settings, bordered with scrollwork and with highlights in gold, the underside with a pair of spaniels, the triggerplate signed 'R. Capece', bright finish overall, 14 1/4in. highly-figured pistolgrip stock with sculpted cheekpiece, pistolgrip-cap inset with an escutcheon engraved in high relief with roe deer, the pistolgrip partially carved with oak leaves and acorns, the fore-end woods carved en suite, weight 9lb. 1oz.
