A 12-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN SIGNED REDFERN, no visible serial number,
circa 1780 with later conversion by drum and nipple to percussion, two-stage 38in. barrel banded at the intersection, bead fore-sight mounted on a silvered star background, hooked breech with squared top-tang, flat, slightly curved bevel-edged lock signed 'B&M REDFERN', filled pan and frizzen-holes, scroll-engraved dolphin headed hammer, walnut half-stock with traces of chequering at the wrist, brass furniture including long-spurred heel-plate, trigger-guard tang with double roll-edged bow, acorn finial and ramrod throat, replacement under-barrel ramrod, iron surfaces cleaned with some loss to detail
