30in. nitro chopperlump barrels, ribs engraved J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL.', and '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, toplevers engraved '1' and '2', removable striker discs, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening (No.1) and traces of original colour-hardening (No.2), 14 7/8in. well-figured cast on stocks (No.1 a replacement), weight 6lb. 12oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 9oz. (No.2) in their brass-cornered oak and leather case
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were completed with 30in. barrels in June 1927 for A.T.L. Thesiger.
