circa 1840, with round, slightly tapering 6 1/2in. barrels, solid squared top-tangs marked 'MLE 1837', off-set top-mounted nipples, plain curved back-action locks signed 'MRE RLE DE CHATELLERAULT', hammers of slightly different forms, plain walnut half-stocks (both cracked at grip), brass furniture, one pistol with full-length iron back-strap, side-mounted iron belt-hooks and captive iron under-barrel stirrup ramrods, inspectors stamps to many components
