circa 1811 with later conversion to percussion, 8 1/2in. signed octagonal smooth-bore barrel (address details rubbed, possibly sleeved down for use as a target pistol in antiquity), dove-tailed bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, engraved bands and gold line at breech, fully engraved top-tang, flat, slightly curved lockplate signed 'H.W. MORTIMER', border and scroll engraving, sliding safe behind the hammer, highly figured walnut half-stock, chequered full pistol-grip, flat-based brass grip-cap, 'saw-grip' grip-spur, spurred iron trigger-guard, set-trigger, white-metal take-down wedge escutcheons and nose-cap (some cleaning and corrosion, the ramrod, under-rib and nipple crude replacements)
