* A RARE ISSUED SPEAR FOR THE SOUTH AFRICAN DEFENCE FORCE, serial no. 178,
circa 1910, forged head 22 3/4in. in length with narrow leaf-shaped 13 1/2in. blade and machined knurling to the socket, the neck stamped with a broad arrow within a letter 'U', the serial number and 'IPU27', 35 1/2in. hardwood shaft swelling at the base also stamped 'IPU27', special thumb cut-out and iron heel-cap, complete with a reproduced photograph of native police officers drilling with similar spears
