A FINE 16-BORE FLINTLOCK DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN WITH GILT MOUNTS, no visible serial number,
Continental, circa 1780, with 34in. barrels, boat-shaped bead fore-sight, eared sighting groove to the border and acanthus scroll engraved top-tang, flat, slightly curved bevel-edged step-tailed borderline engraved locks signed in script 'PISUISSE' on the right and 'A LAHAYE' on the left hand lock, slab-sided hammers, moulded frizzens, acorn terminals to the frizzen springs, scroll engraved hinge-ends to the pans, figured walnut handrail half-stock with rococco carving around the top-tang and furniture, carved and engraved brass heel-plate with vase finial to the top-spur (strong traces of gilding), inlaid silver wire scrolls to the wrist and bordering the heel-plate (some losses), inlaid silver wire bordered 'WB' monogram to top of wrist, raised tear-drop cheek-piece with carved accents, gilded and engraved rococco-bordered trigger-guard tang with vase terminal, raised gilded grip-piece with acanthus leaf engraving, flared pillar and shell gilded trigger-guard bow engraved with martial and musical trophies, vase finial, en-suite gilded ramrod throat, gilded ramrod pipes, iron swivels and horn-tipped ramrod
