circa 1840, with fully fluted 3in. barrel cluster, roll-edged nipple-guard, rounded box-lock action with border and scroll engraved panels, the left hand side with a central panel signed 'J.W. EDGE, MANCHESTER', the right hand side with a similar panel marked 'IMPROVED REVOLVING PISTOL', top bar-hammer with border engraving to the bar and lightning bolts engraved to the head, sliding safe behind the hammer, full grip-straps with border engraving, the back-strap with scroll engraving and a central panel bearing the serial number, smooth bag-shaped burr-walnut grips and border and scroll engraved trigger-guard bow
