A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-SHOT BRASS-MOUNTED HORSE-PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1770, with triple-stage, 12in. swamped iron barrel, small crescentic fore-sight set back from the muzzle, London proofs and makers mark 'I.B.' at breech, plain border-lined engraved lock signed 'BARBAR', walnut full-stock (numerous old repairs and small losses), shell border to tang, fancy foliate brass side-plate incorporating a monsters head, long-eared brass butt-cap with grotesque mask, rococco brass escutcheon to top of wrist engraved with a griffin 'passant', brass trigger-guard with star-burst engraving, brass thimbles and original brass-mounted rammer (iron parts cleaned with some surface pitting)
