English, first quarter of the 18th century, with octagonal to round 12 3/4in. barrel, solid top-tang, flat, slightly curved bevel-edged lockplate with stepped pointed tail, indistinct signature forwards of hammer (hammer missing top-jaw and screw), bridle-less frizzen, walnut full-stock carved around the furniture (numerous old losses mainly around butt-cap and edges of fore-end), heavy iron eared butt-cap, iron trigger-guard and tang and probable replacement ramrod
