Spanish circa 1840, possibly converted from flintlock, with octagonal 8 7/8in. barrel, solid scroll engraved top-tang, scroll engraved lockplate of 'miquelet' style signed in a cartouche 'LOPES', scroll engraved hammer (detached but present), carved walnut three-quarter stock with fluted butt, carved leaf decoration running down both sides of the grip and along the back, iron semi-spire grip-cap, further en-suite carving around the lock and extending along the underside of the fore-end, iron belt-hook to the left-hand side, narrow iron barrel-band and disk-ended iron under-barrel ramrod
