dated for 1846 but stocked in the Continental style, with Tower-proofed round tapering 9 3/4in. barrel, the breech stamped 'G.B.', solid rounded top-tang with serial number, military style lock (adapted from flint, possibly from a musket) signed 'ENFIELD' (faint) over the date and stamped with a crown over 'VR' at the tail, walnut full-stock with brass furniture including domed butt-cap and 'L' shaped side-plate, brass trigger-guard bow on iron front-strap, twin-band iron nose-cap in the French style, probable replacement wood rammer
