for 1865, with 5in. octagonal barrel signed on three lines 'COOPER FIREARMS MFG. CO. FRANKFORD, PHILA. PA.' and two further lines of illegible patents, plain stepped cylinder, plain iron frame, brass grip-straps and trigger guard, smooth walnut grip, iron hinged under-barrel rammer, the whole stained with some surface corrosion
Other Notes: Despite this pistol genuinely being serial number '8', it does not conform to the first model which should have iron grip-straps, a non-rebated cylinder and different address details. It therefore would appear that it was numbered out of sequence for some reason.
