circa 1840, with 3 1/4in. fully fluted barrel-group (one nipple missing, one broken), rounded boxlock action, the right side scroll engraved, the left hand side marked 'J.R. COOPER PATENT' in a banner on a field of scrolls, smooth bag-shaped walnut grip-panels and ring trigger with under-hammer
