26 5/8in. replacement nitro chopperlump barrels (in 2008), ribs finely engraved with acanthus detailing at the breech ends and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', tubes engraved 'WILLIAM EVANS LTD. 67A. ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON. S.W.1.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, treble-grip actions, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, removable striker discs, beaded border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 3/4in. well-figured replacement stocks, weight 6lb. 8oz., in a lightweight leather double motor case with some accessories and William Evans Ltd. gold-tooled trade label

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were completed July 1935 with 26 1/2in. barrels for Major B.F. Montfort-Bebb.

Research has established that a later owner of these shotguns was the racehorse owner Ted Harvey of Wickham Hall in Hertfordshire. His finest racing achievement came in 1989 when his horse, Little Polveir, won the Grand National at Aintree.
