A SCARCE 'RUMMAGING' SWORD-STICK FOR CUSTOMS OFFICERS,
circa 1850, with square-section tapering 29 1/2in. blade signed 'MOLE, BIRMM' (front part of stamp incomplete), oak crooked handle reinforced with a brass ring at join and complete with its oak scabbard with similar brass ring at throat and a brass ferrule with iron tip

Other Notes: These sticks were used by Customs Officers to 'probe' sacks and bales in the search for contraband
