for 1884, with tapering round blued 2 1/4in. barrel, the top signed in two lines by the maker, the left hand side etched 'NEW HOUSE .38' (faint), blued fluted cylinder, blued frame, blued hammer with polished sides, chequered hard-rubber grips embossed 'COLT' and featuring the figures of a Police Officer apprehending a 'villain', sheathed trigger, the whole retaining much original finish
