A 32-BORE / .500 PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED CAPE-RIFLE, no visible serial number,
circa 1845, with equal diameter twist-iron 29in. barrels, the top-rib inlaid in silver gothic script 'RIEGER IN MUNCHEN', dove-tailed bead fore-sight, mid-mounted dove-tailed blade rear-sight, twin white-metal lines to breech and engraved rib-end, relief engraved top-tang, relief engraved bar-action locks with scenes of deer and hunting dogs, provision for swinging hammer safes (removed), scroll engraved hammers, chequered walnut 'roach-bellied' half-stock with large cheek-piece, acanthus relief carving around the top-tang and behind the cheek-piece, patch-box to right hand side of butt with carved sliding wooden lid (replaced), iron heel-plate, wooden trigger-guard bow with raised scroll-carved tang, set-trigger for the rifle barrel, the barrel key with white-metal star-burst escutcheons, iron thimbles and brass-tipped wood ramrod
