A GOOD 6-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED FOWLING-PIECE, serial no. 10315,
circa 1855, with tapering twist-iron 38in. browned barrel, moulded short sighting rib at breech with long borderline engraved steeple to the front terminating in a finely engraved starburst, the rib signed 'REILLY, NEW OXFORD STREET LONDON', bead fore-sight, squared border engraved colour-hardened breech (faded) with a scroll engraved panel to the top-flat and the tear-drop shaped percussion snail, borderline, scroll and shell engraved top-tang, fully-fenced nipple with engraved details, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'REILLY, LONDON' (strong traces of colour), chequered walnut half-stock, iron heel-plate with scroll engraved top-spur, white metal oval escutcheon to underside of stock, engraved iron furniture, twin barrel keys with oval iron escutcheons, moulded iron ramrod throat and fore-end cap, plain thimbles and substantial brass mounted wood ramrod, good amount of original finish throughout
