French, circa 1890, with 25in. smoothbore round barrel marked 'ACIER' at the breech, the reverse with 'ST ETIENNE' and a French proof mark, bead fore-sight, dove-tailed notch rear-sight, pre-charged cylinder beneath the barrel with knurled decoration and numbered '29689' together with a balloon trademark, blued action engraved with foliage and scrollwork, rotating 'trough' tap, central exposed hammer, chequered walnut straight-hand butt-stock, horn heel-plate, engraved iron trigger-guard and tang, adjustable trigger, the whole retaining a good amount of original blued finish
