ST. MARY'S SQUARE. BIRMINGHAM, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. full choke in both, action incorporating L.B. Taylor & Westley Richards patent concealed hook and extension, patent no. 8853 of 8th April 1914, and patent pivoted firing pins, patent No. 9410 of 16th April 1914, hold-open toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, hinged floorplate, action and decorative sideplates engraved with acanthus scrollwork on a matt background, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. figured pistolgrip stock (slight setting crack near left sideplate) with pistolgrip cap, including 1/4in. buttplate, weight 8lb. 9oz. in its canvas and leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that whilst there is no record of this gun in their records, the engraving looks correct to what was being produced in the Greener factory between 1933 and 1954. The gun could possibly have been bought in as a 'barrelled action in the white' which might have been finished by them but there is no record as such.
