for 1909, 43in. overall, with sighted 19 1/4in. barrel, the air-chamber marked 'THE BSA AIR RIFLE (IMPROVED MODEL 'D'), THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO LTD ENGLAND, SOLE MANUFACTURERS', scarce factory-fitted peep-sight inlet into the top of the trigger-block, saw-gripped full pistol walnut butt-stock chequered at the wrist, the base of grip stamped 'COX & SON SOUTHAMPTON', iron heel-plate, underside near trigger-block stamped '13 1/4' and spade-catch under-lever stamped 'LINCOLN JEFFRIES PATENT 8761-04', traces of finish throughout
